Research and development of innovative methods and sensing technologies
I am an environmental economist. I've worked on soil policy and governance within the German BonaRes (Soil as a Sustainable Resource for the Bioeconomy) project, collaborating with soil scientists on the topics of soil policy instruments, agri-environmental payments for soil functions/soil-based ecosystem services, economic valuation of soil-based ecosystem services. I'd happily contribute expertise in analysis of policy instruments to address soil multifunctionality while considering farmers' decision-making (e.g. by means of agent-based modelling) as well as economic valuation (esp. discrete choice experiments) to determine societal preferences for soil-based ecosystem services and soil biodiversity.
The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ is a large-scale, interdisciplinary environmental research institute in Germany, with extensive collaboration networks across disciplines within the Centre itself, in Germany and beyond. Its department include both environmental social sciences (economics, political science, legal science, sociology) and natural sciences, with soil research being a strong focus, embedded in a broader, landscape-level perspective.
