Managing soils in the context of climate change
We are a team of experienced researches in the field of soil, plant and microbe analysis. Our expertise includes chemical analysis of soils (Nmin, P, K, C/N, Mg, S, trace elements etc.) and plants/microbes (including minerals K, P, Ca, Mg, trace elements, nitrate, total N and C, and organic compounds like amino acids, polyamines, polyphenols, fatty acids etc.) by applying i.a. HPLC, HPLC/MS, HPTLC, GC/MS, LC/MSMS, NIR, UV-VIS and ESR. In addition, we are highly experienced in soil microbiome analysis (Archaea, Bacteria, Fungi, Oomycota) using Illumina next generation and Nanopore third generation sequencing including bioinformatics. We apply bio-stimulants and plant beneficial microbes for sustainable fertilization and biocontrol purposes, qPCR for absolute quantification of certain taxa in soil or root endophytes and relative quantification of the expression of biotic and abiotic stress-related genes (qRT-PCR) in plants/tissues. We are prepared to support any consortium looking for expertise in the mentioned research fields. Hochschule Anhalt (www.hs-anhalt.de) is the largest University of Applied Sciences in Eastern Germany. The Bernburg location hosts the Departments Agriculture, Ecotrophology & Landscape Development (incl. Soil Sciences), and Economy (incl. AgriBusiness & Management). In the Agriculture Degree Programs several field trials are managed, among them long-term trials as e.g. a tillage/fertilization/crop rotation trial running since 1992. The International DLG Crop Production Centre (www.dlg-ipz.de/en/) is residing at the campus. Bernburg is located in the Central German Arid Zone and crop cultivation focusses on climate change and drought issues. The Anhalt Centre for Data Science (ACDS) of Hochschule Anhalt provides resources for digitization in agriculture, data management and evaluation, running the bioinformatics server and supports multifactorial/multivariate analysis, modelling and AI approaches.
