Research and development of innovative methods and sensing technologies
1. Activity/workpackage title
Protocol for zoning SES taking into account agricultural management.
2. Objective
Developing a protocol for the zoning of SES according to agricultural management.
3. Description
A protocol will be developed to identify and spatialize soil ecosystem services (SES) under different land uses and agricultural management, based on soil spatial information and complementary information such as climate, relief, land use and land cover. The protocol will be developed applying soil information from available databases of soil surveys; soil interpretations, such as agricultural suitability surveys and soil susceptibilities to erosion. The protocol will be developed and applied in a pilot area to be defined, in a scale between 1:100,000 and 1:250,000, depending on the detail of secondary soil data available.
5. Alignments
Topic C of the EJP soil call: Research and development of innovative methods and detection technologies to provide integrated monitoring and mapping of farm management practices, also taking into account physical attributes and vegetation characteristics relevant to SOC sequestration, soil health and degradation.
Innovation Challenge for the Environmental Services Portfolio: Enable the multifunctionality of the landscape by expanding environmental services in areas of agricultural and forestry production.
6. Team
Embrapa Soils: Aline P. de Oliveira, Ana Paula Turetta, Azeneth Schuler, Elaine C. C. Fidalgo, Joyce G. Monteiro, Rachel B. Prado.
Embrapa Forest: Lucília Parron
Request - We are looking for partners who work on this topic and who intend to submit a project in this call, in which we can participate.
Embrapa Soils - In all its development actions, Embrapa Solos seeks to present economically viable, environmentally appropriate and socially fair technological solutions. Therefore, in partnership with public and private institutions in Brazil and abroad, it carries out research with the objective of finding solutions to major national problems, such as: land use planning, recovery of degraded / contaminated soils, agro-pedoclimatic zoning and technologies sustainable use of soil and water resources in productive systems. Embrapa Solos is also responsible for organizing and making available data and knowledge on tropical soils.
